I have wanted to include this topic on here for a while now, but as it is not something I know a great deal about I didn’t feel confident in writing an introduction to it that would do it justice. After putting out some calls on Twitter the lovely Steeled Snake popped up in my DM offering to write something which I jumped at and so finally this topic can be tackled.

Kink of the Week Aug 1-15: Urethral Sounding

In many ways, the thing that drives interest in various kinks is the seemingly “off limits” aspect of it.  Sounding, or more specifically Urethral Sounding, is one of those things that, when you first hear of it, can make you squeamish and wonder what could possibly be the draw of it.

But the mind game leading up to it.  The consideration of what you’ll be doing, and then the physical aspect of it all add up to a very interesting kink for many.

Sounding is simple on its face; you’re inserting a rod in the urethra and feeding it forward for some distance.  The sensations this drives, along with other aspects, can be… intense.  The sounds, those metal rods that you use as the toys in this kink are specially made, are sterilizable and come in different sizes.  As you can see in the picture, you can go from very small to very large.  It does work for those with, and without a penis, though it may be more prevalent in those with a penis.

One aspect that may be overlooked when people are considering sounding is that it’s an activity that can be solo or with a partner, and if it’s with a partner, who will be driving?  From personal experience, having your partner drive adds a whole new level of trust, of power exchange and overall involvement in sounding.

Many people that do sounding on a regular basis refer to “the drop” that portion of the insertion of the rod where it settles in – and many others talk about the sensations – almost like an orgasm, but originating from the inside.  It can be quite intense.

So what are you thoughts on Urethral Sounding? Have you ever done it and if so where you the giver or the receiver? Was it an amazing thing or maybe you discovered it was not for you? Alternatively is it something you have wondered about but yet to try or maybe the thought of it just does not work for you? Whatever you thoughts are on this kink we want to hear them.

Don’t forget that Kink of the Week is not just about personal experiences. Fiction posts are more then welcome, so if you want to write us a story inspired by the prompt then go for it.
