I have thought a lot about this over the last six months. In the summer I was fairly certainly that it was time to pause this project but then things shifted again for me in September and I changed my mind. However as the autumn turned to winter and I looked ahead into 2024 I realised that for now I needed to make some changes.
It can be challenging to start a new project. It is easy to constantly talk yourself out of it. Now is not the right time etc but over the years I think I have been fairly good at that part of thing. Stopping a project however has felt much harder. All that time and energy invested to just stop? That feels uncomfortable for me. But recently I have read a few things about people making big changes and stopping projects that they had invested lots of time and energy into and I realised I envied them the ability to say it was time to stop.
And so here I am making the bold decision to put this project on hiatus.
So what exactly does hiatus mean? Well your guess is a good as mine. For now it will definitely be for the duration of 2024 but beyond that. Who knows. Life shifts and changes and maybe I will pick it back up again in the future and maybe I won’t. The key things is, whatever I decided to do, that is OK.
The site will obviously stay live here. It actually gets pretty good traffic as people search for the kinks that float their boat. Hopefully the result is that some of that traffic bumps onto the bloggers who submitted links for that prompt. I know mine definitely gets regular traffic from here. So that will continue and hopefully it will be a good resource for folks who find it. If you are kinky and unsure, let this site show you that you are not alone and you are not weird or broken or any of those other things that you may have been led to believe.
Being kinky is wonderful and liberating. It should be fun and happy and consensual and within those parameters whatever fucking works for you. Hopefully over the years Kink of the Week has helped people to find others who like the kinky shit they do and also to understand each others kinks and celebrate them even when they are not for you.
I am proud of this project. The last 9 years have been amazing and fun and I have learned some much about my kinks but also about other peoples and how diverse the being kinky is. One of my absolute loves of this project has been learning about others, how things work for them and on many occasions discovering new filthy things that I wanted to try. It’s been a wonderful and liberating things and I hope over the years it has given other bloggers both ideas to write about and ideas for filthy things to try.
On that note, thank you to all the bloggers who have joined in over the years with your words and also ideas for prompts. It has been a blast and I have loved every moment of it.
Stay kinky
Molly
